KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer and investment company, BT Bina Group Sdn Bhd is offering a reward of RM1 million to any athlete who wins a gold medal for Malaysia at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

CEO, BT Bina Group, Datuk Seri David Tan, said efforts and strategies to realize the dream should start now and he hoped the offer would be able to further increase the motivation of national athletes.

“I and all Malaysians are still waiting for the country’s first Olympic gold medal. Therefore, I am ready to give RM1 million in cash to the gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“With this reward, I hope it will be able to invigorate the spirit of the country’s athletes to hunt for medals at the Paris Olympics later.

“The effort needs to start from now. I believe the opportunity for national athletes to win gold in Paris 2024 is there, but most importantly they need to be very disciplined and work hard, besides getting more exposure at international tournaments,” he said.

With the latest rewards offered by the company, athletes who win gold in Paris as a whole will receive a prize of RM2 million including RM1 million promised through the Sports Victory Prize Scheme (SHAKAM).

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which ended, last August saw the national contingent bring home one silver and bronze.

The silver medal came from track cycling champion, Datuk Azizulhasni Awang in the keirin event and the bronze was donated by Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the men’s doubles badminton event.

BT Bina Group previously donated a condominium unit worth RM800,000 which was shared jointly by para badminton champion, Cheah Liek Hou and his coach, Datuk Rashid Sidek following the success of winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, last September.
